I fondly remember our neighborhood many years ago used to have a contest to see who would get the first red tomato. I remember one year sneaking out and painting my Grandfathers tomato red.
The neighbor saw it and got grampa out of the hammock and they both went back to the garden. It did not take Grandpa long to figure that one out.
Well yesterday I got my first red tomato. The old fashion way, the natural way. Yes it was tasty.

It funny because I just commented on my blog that if my tomatoes didn't start turning red soon I was going to paint them. I have had a few cherry tomatoes ready for picking, but hardly enough to make a salad. I did notice yesterday that a few of the big ones are starting to turn. I had all I could do to resist from picking them and speed up the ripening process.
Still waiting on mine! I've got one that's turning, but, that's it so far. Last year, I had at least 3 by the 4th of July. I'm getting a bit impatient at this point!! haha!!
Anyway, hope you thoroughly enjoyed your first one of the year!
